Connecting Classrooms to Careers: Exploring Opportunities at NCCC!
School and district content leads, library media specialists, fine arts teachers, computer science teachers, counselors, and MLP teachers toured the Newberry County Career Center (NCCC) to gain a firsthand look at the career and technical education opportunities available to students throughout the School District of Newberry County.
NCCC is a centerpiece of our district's commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation. Serving nearly 700 students annually, NCCC offers 21 areas of specialized training across programs aligned with nine of South Carolina's 14 CTE career clusters. Each year, more than 200 students complete CTE programs, collectively earning hundreds of industry-recognized credentials that prepare them for the workforce, continued education, or advanced career training.
From Building Construction, Electricity/Mechatronics, and Welding to Cosmetology, Business, Artificial Intelligence, and more, NCCC provides students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop valuable skills, and prepare for their futures.
Why is this experience important for our educators?
Career exploration begins long before high school. When a student dreams of becoming a firefighter, nurse, engineer, farmer, or automotive technician, our educators can help connect those aspirations to real opportunities available right here in our district.
By experiencing NCCC's programs firsthand, our teachers and instructional leaders are better equipped to make meaningful connections between classroom learning and future career pathways, helping students recognize the possibilities ahead of them at every grade level.
Our Schools. Our Future. Preparing students for what's next starts with helping them discover what's possible!
